More detailed ones: 3 at once, less detailed ones: 5 at once. I think seeing some kind of progress is vital to batch painting. If you don't see it, you will burn out more quickly.

Astonishingly boring

I get the point but I also think the "Slap chop" comparison one was very poorly done. You have to be way more aggressive on the gray phase. You should only end up up with black parts in very shadowy spaces or very pronounced receshes. I normally prime in black, then prime in gray in around 45 degree angle from above. Then Drybrush white. I found out that you are always in time to make the mini darker but not always on time to make the mini lighter so I am kind of aggressive with the white. Then after basing you do washing. And then highlighting if feeling brave. TLDR: You've done a technique wrong and said that it doesn't work. xD
